Mark every release right on your charts, and pin the ones you check most to your Overview. Hey Emre Elbeyoglu, Jordan from Superwall here 👋 This week is all about charts. You can now mark releases and sales right on them, and pin the ones you check most to your Overview. Plus, Android paywalls can upgrade an existing Google Play subscription, Joseph explains why your most viewed video probably isn't selling your app, and we've got events in Berlin and Montreal. Here's what you need to know: 📈 Chart annotations and pinned charts First up, chart annotations! If you've ever stared at a spike in your proceeds chart and tried to remember what you shipped that week, this one's for you. Annotations mark what happened on your app's timeline, like a release, an App Store feature, a sale or an outage. They show up on every time-series chart for the app, including campaign results, so you can see a change in a metric right next to the thing that probably caused it. To add one, just click a point on any chart on the Charts page. And once your charts tell a story, you'll want them front and center. You can now pin up to 24 charts to your app's Overview, each with its own filters, size and date range. My favorite part? Describe the chart you want, like "weekly proceeds by country," and Superwall AI builds it for you. 💡 Tip: Annotations have an API (https://superwall.com/docs/dashboard/charts/annotations#mark-releases-from-ci), so you never have to add them by hand. Add one step to your release pipeline (GitHub Actions, Xcode Cloud, whatever you use) that posts a "v2.4 released" annotation, and every release lands on your charts automatically. The docs have the exact command to copy. Older API keys don't have the charts:write scope, so edit yours or create a new one. 📖 Read the chart annotations docs (https://superwall.com/docs/dashboard/charts/annotations) 📖 Read the pinned charts docs (https://superwall.com/docs/dashboard/charts/pinned-charts) 🤖 Android 2.9.0: upgrades and downgrades from your paywall Next up, Android 2.9.0 (https://github.com/superwall/Superwall-Android/blob/main/CHANGELOG.md). If someone already pays for your monthly plan and taps your annual plan on a paywall, that should be an upgrade, not a second subscription. Now it is. When a paywall's Purchase action is set to replace an existing subscription, Superwall upgrades, downgrades or switches the user's active Google Play subscription instead of buying a new one. You choose whether they're charged the store default, the prorated difference or the full price now. Using your own purchase controller? There's a new PurchaseController.purchase(..., replacement) overload for it. 2.9.0 also adds adConsent, which Superwall passes along with the conversions it sends to Google Ads and Meta. One heads up: if your app sets an AppsFlyer ID, it now sends an IPv4 device attribute, so declare IP address collection in your Play Console data safety form. 🛠️ A few smaller updates - Grace periods: In iOS 4.18.3 (https://github.com/superwall/Superwall-iOS/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md), subscribers in a billing grace period keep their entitlements on StoreKit 2, so a failed renewal doesn't lock out a paying user. - Flutter: Customer Center comes to Flutter 2.8.0 (https://github.com/superwall/Superwall-Flutter/blob/main/CHANGELOG.md) with one presentCustomerCenter() call. Heads up, the minimum iOS version is now 15. - Android fixes: Web checkout codes from the Play install referrer now redeem, and post-purchase actions now run after one-time purchases. - Apple Search Ads: Advanced mode now imports your daily campaign spend (https://superwall.com/docs/integrations/apple-search-ads), so it shows up in ROAS and cost charts. - Discounts guide: See which App Store, Google Play and Stripe discounts (https://superwall.com/docs/dashboard/guides/offer-codes-and-promo-codes) you can apply from a paywall. - Data schema API: List every event and property your app sends (https://superwall.com/docs/dashboard/guides/query-clickhouse), plus daily counts per event. 🎬 The video with the most views isn't the one selling your app Joseph (https://x.com/JosephKChoi) did something a little different this time. Instead of interviewing a founder, he walked through what he's learned from hundreds of them about what happens between someone watching a video and deciding your app is worth paying for. The part that stood out to me was CocoPicks. Their prank videos got over 30 million views, but their before and after videos were the ones that actually got people to want the app. A prank is fun to send to a friend, but it doesn't give anyone a reason to download anything. Watching someone get the result you want for your own photos does. So, what can you take from this one? For me, it's his rule that your product should be the main character of the video. Not a logo in the last two seconds, and not a creator pausing the story for an ad read. If someone can't picture themselves using your app after watching, the view count doesn't matter much. 🎬 Watch it here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qh314MypshM) 📆 App Growth LIVE, Berlin and Montreal 🎙️ App Growth LIVE: Thursday, November 5 Office Hours got a glow-up.
