       Hi Emre,

It is completely normal to have questions before making a big move. We hear them every day and we want to answer yours honestly.

Here are the top questions au pairs ask us before they take the leap:

**What if I want to go home before the end?**

You are free to go home when you need to! Usually there is a cancellation period to help the host family find another au pair. But… We will always be there to guide and coach you through it. You will probably find that staying and communicating can solve the issue and is the secret place where you look back and think “ wow I learnt the most there when it was so hard”

**💰 How much pocket money will I receive?**

This depends on your destination country, but host families pay a set monthly stipend on top of covering your room and all your meals. You can find the exact amounts per country on your dashboard, most of our au pairs find it more than enough for weekend trips, eating out, and everyday life.

**🌴 How many vacation days do I get?**

You are entitled to paid time off, which is agreed upfront with your host family. The standard is around two weeks per year for a full placement, though this varies by country. Your free time outside working hours (most common: evenings and weekends) is always yours too.

**🤝 What happens if it's not a match with my host family?**

This is exactly why we are here. If something is not working, you do not have to figure it out alone. Reach out to our team and we will step in, mediate, and if needed help you find a better-fitting family. You are never left without support.

**🍽️ Do I have to eat dinner with the family every evening?**

No, this is something you agree on together at the start. Some au pairs love sharing family dinners; others prefer their own evenings. There is no single rule. What matters is that it is discussed openly so everyone is comfortable.

**🛒 When my host family is on holiday and I stay home, do I pay for my own groceries?**

No. Even when your host family is away, your meals and groceries remain their responsibility. You should never be out of pocket for food during your placement. If there is ever any confusion about this, our team is here to help clarify it.
