People don’t buy your facts

Someone heard every fact, every stat, every reason to say yes.
And they still said no. Why?
Facts make people defensive.
But a story doesn't give them anything to argue with.
Say you're trying to convince someone they need an email list.
One way to say it: email brings in more money than almost anything else you could spend on, so build a list.
Nobody feels anything reading that.
Try this instead: The morning my traffic disappeared, every follower gone overnight, and the only thing that still worked was the small email list I'd built on the side.
Nobody argues with that story. They just think, "I need a list, too!"
And that's the shift.
When you tell someone what to believe, they look for reasons to disagree.
But when you tell them the moment you believed it, there's nothing to disagree with. It's just something that happened to you.

People don't argue with their own conclusions.
So here's something to try this week.
Think of one thing someone has to believe before they'll buy from you.
Then write a few sentences about the moment you first realized it was true.
Where you were, what happened, and what it felt like.
That's your story.
So the next time you write to your list, let them live it with you.
And watch how much easier the yes comes.
