That's expected, and here's why: *You’ll track more of your real traffic, with no sampling.* *************************************** *No sampling: you see the full dataset* *************************************** Most analytics platforms use data sampling. When traffic grows, they analyse a portion of your data and extrapolate the rest. Your reports look complete, but they're based on estimates. Matomo doesn't sample. Every visit, every page view, every action is recorded and reported as-is. The numbers you see are the numbers that happened. Here are the most common reasons: * *Different tracking methods.* Each tool counts sessions, visitors, and page views using different logic. * *Consent handling.* Matomo can be configured to use cookieless tracking, which may affect how visits are measured compared to cookie-dependent tools that miss this data. * *Ad blockers.* Some ad blockers target specific analytics scripts. Since Matomo is self-hosted or hosted on your Cloud instance (not a third-party domain), it's often less affected. * *Bot filtering.* Each platform handles bots and crawlers differently. These are not errors. They reflect different ways of measuring the same traffic. Visit your website in a new tab. Confirm if your visit appears in the report. * *Caching.* If no tracking data appears, your website might be serving a cached version without the tracking code. Clear your site's cache. Then test again in Real-time. * *Wrong site ID.* Each website in Matomo has a unique ID. Make sure the tracking code matches the right one (visible in Settings > Tracking Code). * *Content Security Policy (CSP).* If your site uses a CSP header, it may block the Matomo tracking script. Add your Matomo Cloud domain to the list of allowed sources in your CSP. * *Code placement.* The snippet should be placed before the closing </head> tag. If it's loaded after the page renders, some visits may not be recorded. The quickest way to verify: visit your website, then open the *Real-time* report in Matomo.
