AI moderation scans posts as they come in and flags spam and harmful content before it reaches your members. You can tune the filtering, but the defaults should serve most communities, taking one of the hardest parts of running a community off your plate.

Search is powerful. When a user looks something up, Discourse surfaces relevant topics even when the exact words don't match, reducing duplicate questions and helping people get faster answers.

Translation. If your product has users in multiple countries, posts can be translated on the fly via AI. Every plan includes translation, with the number of languages rising by tier up to 10 on Enterprise.

Summaries. Long threads are one of the best parts of Discourse, but they can get unwieldy. AI condenses them into a short summary so people can catch up without scrolling through 200 posts. Summaries are on by default, so there's nothing to set up.

These tasks take a couple of minutes each and are the fastest way to see Discourse AI working on your own site:

Summaries: Open one of the topics you've created, then click "Summarize" to see an AI summary. Add a bit more discussion, then summarize again to watch it update as the conversation grows.

- Translation: turn on translation and pick a few languages. A language picker appears in the header; switch it and watch the same topic (and the rest of your site) render in another language.
- And if you haven't already, forward this email to your team. It's a good way to get them involved!

Custom AI assistants

On Discourse, you can build AI assistants: bots with their own personality and instructions, running right in your community's chat. They search your forum, pull in web results, and answer members using your existing content, giving you a support bot that actually knows your product, trained on the discussions your community is already having. Set one up from the same AI settings in your admin dashboard.
