Discount depth, mechanics, and triggers -- what the season's data showed. ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ [ https://claspo.io ] [ https://my.claspo.io/auth-ui/#/login ] What separated the top 10% of BFCM signup pop-ups from the average We looked at the season's own data. The average BFCM signup pop-up converted at 7.93%; the top 10% averaged 35.78% -- about 4.5× higher. The gap didn't come down to discount size. It came down to how the pop-up was built, triggered, and framed. A few results ran against the common playbook. Here are three. A deeper discount didn't reliably convert better Signup conversion by discount depth wasn't linear. In comparable plain signup forms, 20% off peaked at 4.01% -- but going over 20% off dropped to 2.57%, below both 15% and 20%. More margin given away, lower conversion. Worth testing whether a deeper discount earns its cost before you commit to it. The mechanic mattered as much as the reward Mystery-framed gamified pop-ups converted at 12.86%, against 6.01% for plain percentage-discount pop-ups -- same season, same shoppers. And the effect held inside gamification too: Spin the Wheel, an active play-and-reveal, averaged 16.80%, while a passive Gift Box managed 4.36%. The reward matters, but how you present it -- and whether there's a moment of play -- moved the number more. Invest in the experience before you widen the discount. The most-used trigger wasn't the strongest one Page-view triggers delivered the highest average CR at 5.08% -- yet only about 4% of marketers used them. The default is "immediate" (35.5% of pop-ups), which also held up well. What didn't: waiting. A 30-second delay landed at 1.00%, below immediate, 5-, and 10-second triggers. Behavior beat a long wait -- worth checking which trigger you're defaulting to. These are three cuts from the data. The full report breaks down benchmarks by layout, mechanic, offer, and trigger -- with the tactics to act on each -- plus a four-phase calendar and five A/B tests to run before peak.
